About the Show

Inspired by the award-winning podcast abandoned: The All-American Ruins Podcast from Ambie winner Blake Pfeil, this immersive audio theater experience at the 2025 Newburgh Fringe Festival unfolds inside a revitalized shipping container. Wearing noise-cancelling headphones and seated in total darkness, Blake guides the audience through an intimate sound voyage that transports them to an abandoned children’s camp nestled deep in the heart of the Catskill Mountains.

What begins as a sonic adventure through faded and forgotten architecture transforms into a dreamlike meditation on American history, democracy, and faith. As the lines between reality and imagination blur, All-American Ruins invites you to linger in the stillness of what’s been left behind—and to discover how the simple act of listening to the ruins of our past, present, and future can become an act of rebellion, connection, and healing.

Following every performance of All-American Ruins: Busted, audience members receive access to an exclusive “on-the-go” audio theater playlist featuring additional fantastical sonic journeys through America’s ruins—designed to accompany them from the comfort of their own smartphones as they wander between other performances at the Newburgh Fringe Festival.
